We hairdressers are the worst at eating healthy and consistently throughout the work day….. I know this because I do this…. Or used to!!!!
My day typically would start with a cup of coffee while doing my make up then another one on my way to work. Skipping breakfast and fake full, I would work straight through lunch….maybe I would run out and grab something but not always, especially if my clients are backed up and giving me the side eye. Somedays could end up meal free until eight or nine o’clock at night, or whenever I stumble out of the shop.
Lawd….. #salonlife lol
My solution is to stop running on fake fuel and give it what it actually needs to get me through the day: complex carbs, proteins, fiber and water!!!!
When I start my day with these fruit and vegetable combinations that always include a fruit, something green, almond milk and a supplement; I just feel better, I feel full and I have the energy to finish a busy day of blow drying and weaving multiple clients.
Unfortunately I used to skip meals in the salon because I was either too busy or just plain forgot to eat. Of course I would be starving once I got home after functioning all day on coffee and fumes. Not good, and worse once I got home i’d eat a full meal and crash out.
Twenty extra pounds later, I am finally putting my health first and learning to eat more healthy food throughout the day even if I have to schedule mini food breaks. At work, I’ve displayed on my mirror a post-it note, ‘don’t forget to eat’!!!
1 banana, 1 mango, 1 lg kale leaf, 3 strawberries, 1/2 c almond milk, 1/2 water depending on the consistency you prefer, 1scoop of whatever powdered supplement you prefer, I like ‘Green Vibrancy’ or Maca powder.
Don’t forget to eat!!!
